2. HJC RPHA 70 ST Solid Helmet

I like the helmet a lot. For the following opinions I will state that I am 5’10”, my head measures 58/59 and I ride a Kawasaki Ninja.
I ordered size L – it fits great (snug however not too tight in my opinion). Have an older HJC IS16 size L and this one fits about the same – just a bit snugger all around however a bit more space around the upper cheeks. Compared to the HJC IS16 the RPHA 70 ST appears to have narrower shell and opening. At first I thought that my head will not fit easily in the opening however it is fine and once inside there is more room than suggested by the opening size – indeed I find it very comfortable – the ears space makes that happen. The helmet fits very nice/snug all around the head while the ears space allows it to be comfortable and not too tight.

Prior to that I tried Schuberth S2 (XL – 60/61) however it was too big and that is why I cannot compare fit/performance. I can compare quality and design however and can say that I will choose the HJC RPHA 70 ST over the Schuberth S2 without hesitation any day. IMHO, the design on the HJC RPHA 70 ST seems more sophisticated and better and the quality looks better as well. The helmet feels very stable in the air stream and I would qualify it as being on the quieter side than the average helmet (I do ride with earplugs anyway).

I changed the original visor with the tinted mirror yellow and use the HJC “pinlock” insert – the optics of both visors are excellent, and the antifogging insert works great.
The helmet has many vents however I do not feel the air moving much during the ride and I do not get hot either. When stopped I wish to open the face shield sometimes however have not done it yet. By the way I like the central locking face shield mechanism very much.
